Iris

And I’d give up forever to touch you
’cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that i’ll
Ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
’cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight

And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t
Coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive

And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Container packing

When I saw how the cars are being packed inside containers the previous time, I have always wanted to take some pictures of the process but I don want to bring a camera and go shooting at the workers while they are working.. Don want them to think I am some spy trying to see if they are eating snake or not!

But I got lucky today! Ah Beng need my help to print out some of the pictures that customer want us to look. And so I secretly saved some of the pictures and upload them here! :D I am a naughty girl!!

Anyway, the whole process is actually really interesting. The cars are being held up by ropes, belts and planks and stacked on top of each other. Each container have the capacity to contain 5 cars at the most, although there were some situations when 6 small cars can be packed but those are only for cars like Nissan March.

As you can see from the pictures, the tightening of the ropes and the belts have to be very precise. The positioning of the planks have to be really proper too. This is because while the containers are being transported on sea, the ropes can come loose if the vessels shake too much and then the cars on the top will toppled down and crushed the ones below. Actually if you look carefully, the car on the bottom in this picture has been crushed by the one on top and the condition is really bad. Thats why we had to print out this pictures and dispute with the customers on whose fault was it that the cars were crushed..!

Transparencies

transparent Powerbook screen

Check out this cool iBook! A new age kinda of screen! Imagine the look of your friends if you really were to own such a lappie.. Their eyes would probably pop out!!! Heh!

In actual fact this is a very well-done photoshop editing..

1st- with a tripod take a picture of your desk without the computer on it.
2nd- take a picture now with the computer on the desk.
3rd - open both pictures in photoshop and paste one of the pictures over the other as a new layer.
4th- make a selection of the area of the computer desktop and copy it from the image that has no computer.
5th- the image might be skewed due to screen positioning. Use the free transform funtion and drag all corners of the selection to match the picture canvas.
6th- use this image as the desktop in the computer.
7th with camera still in position, take a picture and the illusion will be created.

voila!! Now you are officially owning a lappie with a transparent screen!

Finally got the chance to meet some of the people that I have been communicating with in SPUG! Have been talking and crapping with the hilarious bunch of Spuggers for a few months already and we finally decided to meet and TCSS at Settler's Cafe.. It was quite an event and very fun!! :D

I came to know about SPUG through Mr D and have enjoyed myself in that forum ever since. SPUG stands for Singapore Palm User Group. Its basically a forum for geeks to discuss about the latest gadgets and PDAs there. The irony is that I don't even own any handheld, not to mention any PDAs! The only handhelds that I have are my hands which I have been holding for 25 years! Does that count?! :D One reason why I love that forum so much is cos of its Off-Topic Chat. One can talk about anything under the sun and get sunburnt or in the water and get drowned there. The main reason why I liked this forum so much is cos it has a very healthy culture and most of the people there talk sense.. The arrangement of the threads in the forums are also very tidy and neat, without users' avatars.. Try reading through the posts in Hardware Zone Forums and you will know what I meant.. Just looking through and trying to make sense out of all the threads there is going to kill me!! I rather let Ozzie lick my toes!!

Anyway, back to the gathering.. A bunch of us decided to meet up for a Talk Cock Sing Song session at Settler's Cafe.. To those who have not gone there, GO! Its a cosy place for people to talk and play games there. There are all kinds of card games, board games etc at this place and the finger food served there are quite nice too, though a bit on the salty side.. And it was there that I realized that I have a hidden talent in Taboo! So shiok to beat the guys there..!! :D

Its a little funny that the group of us can have so much things to talk about in reality as well as online in the forum..! I don't warm up to strangers easily and yet I was able to talk to Mashi, dk99 and WW as if we were friends who meet up each week..!

"Sweet Little Things"

During my line of work, I get to meet and liase with the bosses of car exporting companies and mix around with many Ah Bengs.. Old Ah Bengs to be exact.. Its to be expected since I am working in a logistic cum automotive line.. Basically, we are helping automotive companies export 2nd hand cars to their customers overseas, all over the world, including South Africa and Jamaica. But I digressed, this was not what I wanted to talk about in this post.

There was this Mr Khan whom I have been conversing with frequently. Initially, I thought he was like me, a lowly worker belonging to one of our customer. He had this very strong Indian accent and I imagined him to be an Indian man wearing a beard and a turban.. (Its only my imagination, Indians don't really wear turbans, Sikhs do.) He sounded like a nice and sweet guy and over the phone, he was very courteous and very nice to talk with, albeit his strong accent that I sometimes had difficulties making out what he was actually saying..! Then just yesterday, he started to say that I have a nice voice and I sound very sweet. He also said that he was talking to me with a smile on his face.. (By the way, this was not the first time someone praised me for my voice. But thats another story though..!) Of course I was flattered of course. Which girl won't..!

Then I found out from my boss that this Mr Khan is actually a Pakistanian. Kaoz! i did not even know that I was talking to a Pakistanian all along! No wonder he has a very strong accent!

Anyway, Mr Khan decided to come down to the office unannounced to meet me and Ah Beng (will tallk about Ah Beng in another post..) today. Fine then, so I went out in my three quarter cutoff jeans and super lok-kok sweatshirt to meet Mr Khan. Figured that since he was no big shot, its ok whatever I wear..!

Turned out, Mr Khan is actually the general manager of his company!! F**k! And there I was, stupidly standing there, in my lok-kok attire and shook his hands.. And he was no cheesy turban-wearing Indian looking man either..! He was actually quite good looking, facial and body-wise, although he had thinning natural brown hair. I had forgotten that Middle-Eastern nationals tend to be quite good looking. He actually reminded me of my Iranian Financial Economics prof in NTU, Prof Ramasamy.

Ok, enough of his look, back to my topic..

I think Mr Khan was also visibly surprised when he saw me, in a pleasant way. I think he must have imagined me to be an ugly looking girl with a nice voice.. (Take note here, I am not implying that I and good looking or anything like that!) He shook our hands and we sat down to talk shop. During the whole conversation with him, Mr Khan kept emphasizing that he liked, and I quote him word for word, "SWEET LITTLE THINGS". And when he said that, he ignored Ah Beng and was staring at me directly right into my eyes!! Eeks!! Don't even know what the hell he meant but I guess its not exactly a good thing when a man said he like sweet little things and looked at you right in the eyes!! Kinda creepy actually..

Then there was a moment when Ah Beng had to excuse himself and I was left alone with Mr Khan and his assistant. There was an awkward moment and so I started to make conversation. It went like this:

Me: "So Mr Khan, you've been to many places? Where have you been?"

Mr Khan: Oh, I have been to many places. South African, Japan, Eastern Europe, Russia and Cuba. I like Cuba the best. Its a small country. Just like Singapore. The people there are very good looking.

Me: Wow! Exotic place! Yeah, Singapore is very small. Even have difficulty finding us on the map!

Mr Khan: Haha! Yeah, I like Cuba a lot. They have very good looking people there and there are a lot of SWEET LITTLE THINGS there too.! (He was staring at me in my eyes when he said that again.) And I like Sweet Little Things. (stare again).

ME: (uneasy laugh) haha.. sweet little things.. yeah, who doesn't like sweet little things..! (uneasy laugh)

At that point, Ah Beng came back. For once, I was so glad to see him!!

Phew.. what an experience..! I don't know if I am being too sensitive but you don't get to see clients who like to tell you that he like SWEET LITTLE THINGS during a business meeting!

Am I being overly sensitive??!!

weight!

Its only been a week or so since I started work and I can't believe my eyes when I saw my faithful weighing scale telling me that I lost 2kg! This is so incredible..! Maybe its cos I have been walking a lot these days since my office is on the 7th floor and I need to look for documents at the 1st level or maybe its cos I have no appetite these days and I don't take dinner nor breakfast, essentially meaning tat I only have lunch. Sometimes, if not for the fact that I can take a break from my work, I don't even feel like having lunch..! Maybe its also cos I need to walk some distance from my office to a canteen to have my meals too.. But in any case, I am so glad that I lost weight! Woo hoo!!

Hah, in a twisted way, I am glad that I accepted this job!

bored

At the point when I decided to create this blog, I wanted to make it a blog that only has happpy and interesting entries, free from the soggy stuff that I put in my previous blog. However, I was thinking, a blog is somewhere where you put in all your thoughts and emotions, or anything that really affects you. It does not have to be a place where you are always happy since I don't for a moment believe that anyone is happy all the time.

The thing is, I have been feeling very empty since God knows when. Its like I have been living a life where I don't really feel at all. Work and then home and then work and then home. The day just repeats and repeats. Even when I was not working, I still felt the same although the feeling was a little bearable. Its like there is nothing to look forward each day and I don't even know what on earth I am living for. There is just no purpose to my life! There is only so much excitement to going shopping, hanging out with friends, watching movies or even reading a book. After that, the excitement will be gone and I am back to square one with nothing to look forward to!

If I have the money, I would be out trying new stuff. Deep sea diving, parachuting or even bungee jumping! I desperately need some excitement in my life. HELP!!!
